M1Xchange Secures Nationwide Trade Finance and Strengthens Access Governance with Sectona

M1-Exchange

Industry

Financial Services

MYND Online National Exchange (popularly known as M1Xchange), founded in 2017, operates as an online exchange for the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS). It was established under the approval of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to facilitate the discounting of invoices and bills of exchange across India.

The platform primarily serves Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) (“the Seller”), large corporates including Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and Government Departments (“the Buyer”), and Banks/NBFCs (“the Financier”). M1Xchange delivers solution-led financing through expert innovation and flexible financial structures tailored to stakeholder needs. The platform supported financing for over 1,800 enterprises nationwide.

“In Sectona, we got a solution that helps us have full control of user access across our IT infrastructure. We plan to leverage Sectona PAM capabilities for a broader pool of network devices and hosting vendor access.”

Challenge

Securing Privileged Access at Enterprise Scale

M1Xchange began operations with a robust IT architecture. However, as the organisation rapidly scaled to enterprise level, it recognised the urgent need to implement a comprehensive access security framework.

Given the highly sensitive financial data stored within its systems – primarily across MS SQL databases – management prioritised the protection of privileged access to critical infrastructure, including Windows, Unix and database environments.

The organisation faced several key challenges:

  • Managing and securing privileged access to critical database systems
  • Controlling and monitoring managed service provider access to privileged accounts
  • Logging and audit of privileged user activities to a mixed range of IT systems

M1Xchange required a solution that could provide seamless yet secure access across this heterogeneous infrastructure. During its search, the company identified Sectona PAM and proceeded with a detailed evaluation.

The Solution

Implementing Hybrid Privileged Access Management with Sectona

After thorough evaluation, M1Xchange zeroed in on Sectona PAM for its hybrid Privileged Access Management approach that could achieve isolation of critical database sessions while also comprehensively monitoring critical user access (external and internal users) to a mixed range of IT systems.

Sectona enabled the organisation to:

  • Establish isolated and secure access to critical database systems through a Jump Server.
  • Achieve comprehensive monitoring of both internal and external user access across diverse IT systems.
  • Implement risk-scoring-based session logging to enhance visibility, governance, and accountability.
Benefits

Enhanced Security and Strengthened Governance

By isolating critical database sessions and strengthening oversight of privileged activities, Sectona delivered a structured and scalable access control framework aligned with the platform’s enterprise growth.

Sectona helped M1Xchange achieve enhanced security with an isolated and controlled access to sensitive data stored in critical database systems. Furthermore, it provided strengthened governance with unbiased monitoring of user access regardless of whether users accessed systems via LAN or VPN. This ensured consistent oversight, improved audit readiness and reinforced management confidence in the security of the platform’s nationwide financial operations.
