Liva Group Strengthens Security and Compliance through Multi-Cloud Expansion with Sectona PAM

Liva-Group

Industry

Insurance

Liva Group is a well-established multi-line insurance entity operating in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), including Oman, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain. It was formed after the strategic merger of RSA Middle East and NLGIC, uniting a far-reaching portfolio of insurance products tailored for businesses and individuals. Its products span various sectors, including motor, home, health, life, and commercial insurance.

Liva Group uses technology and a strong focus on customer needs to deliver innovative and customised risk management solutions. The team aims to become one of the region’s top insurers by offering reliable protection and earning the trust of every customer.

Key Challenge for the Liva Group

As a primary insurance provider with a widespread footprint across the GCC, Liva Group’s business operates from multiple regional sites in Oman, Arabia, and Dubai. An important component of its digital transformation strategy involved a robust, multi-cloud infrastructure, leveraging both Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This distributed and hybrid environment presents a significant security and operational challenge – ensuring consistent and secure privileged access across all on-premises and cloud resources.

Business and Technical Requirement

The key business and technical requirements were establishing a centralised Privileged Access Management (PAM) solution. This solution needed a single and unified control plane from a hub location in the UAE, enabling Liva Group’s IT and security teams to centrally manage, monitor, and audit all privileged identities and activities across the diverse, multi-site, and multi-cloud landscape. The objective was to eliminate disparate access policies, reduce the attack surface, and enhance regulatory compliance without compromising operational agility.

Sectona's Exclusive Approach – Multi-Site Architecture Setup

To centrally manage privileged access across its distributed IT environment, Liva Group implemented a multi-site architecture using Sectona Privileged Access Management (PAM). This solution allowed them to establish a central management plane in the UAE.

Here’s what made the lean and multi-site setup effective:

Secure tunnelling
Integration with multi-cloud
Centralised policy enforcement
Unified auditing and reporting
Tailored Use Cases That Drive Impact

Sectona stood out by providing a distinctive set of use cases that met Liva Group’s operational and security requirements.

RDP over Browser

Sectona provided a secure and agentless solution that enabled users to securely access Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) sessions through a web browser. This eliminated client-side software, making it easy to deploy, and enhanced user experience and security through session control and auditing at the centre. Liva Group’s IT teams, which were dispersed over various geographies, depended on this feature to access systems securely and uninterruptedly.

Comprehensive Password Management

The team used the solution to manage all privileged credentials in one secure place. It helped them automate password storage, set up regular password changes, and give just-in-time access when needed. This approach reduced the risk of static credentials being misused or compromised.

Local Presence and Support Team

Sectona’s local presence and dedicated support team within the GCC region proved to be a critical differentiator. This ensured rapid response times, personalised service, and extensive regional business and regulatory expertise, which were decisive factors for Liva Group.

Sectona brought together the right mix of features to build a solution that truly fit Liva Group’s needs. By focusing on key priorities, the team delivered a well-performing and secure configuration that was specifically designed to address the complexities of a multi-site and multi-cloud environment.

Future Scope

Liva Group plans to shift its PAM solution to a SaaS model, using Sectona’s multi-cloud setup, to make the transition smooth and scalable. This change will eliminate the maintenance of on-premises infrastructure and enable the team to have privileged access security as a service. By following this model, Liva Group anticipates improved scalability, automated updates, and predictable operating expenses. These enhancements will assist them in having enhanced security as their digital presence expands.
