Update Version 5.5.0

We are pleased to announce the release of the Sectona Security Platform version 5.5. This update introduces new technology features designed to strengthen access security, simplify compliance, and enhance user experience across modern infrastructures.

The following highlights detail the key enhancements within our three core operational pillars:

1. Technology and Infrastructure Updates

This section focuses on infrastructure agility, cloud-first integrations, and ecosystem interoperability.

Unix-Based Session Proxy Support

External proxy component support has been enabled for Unix and Linux operating systems. This reduces hosting costs by eliminating Windows and RDP licensing requirements while operating within fewer system resources. The support adds flexibility for deploying external proxies in multi-site environments.

Azure Entra ID with Password Rotation

Password rotation capabilities for Azure Entra ID accounts have been enhanced to improve credential and account management within Azure Active Directory. This enhancement enables single sign-on (SSO) across all associated applications.

Integrated ITSM Workflows

The latest PAM version 5.5 introduces a unified ITSM workflow system that enables tight integration with users’ current change management processes. This enhancement allows users to raise access or password requests directly through the PAM portal. Upon ticket approval, the portal automatically raises a corresponding request in the existing ITSM system. This approach eliminates the need to raise multiple tickets.

Native Motadata Integration

This is an out-of-the-box enhancement that includes Motadata in the list of supported service desk integrations, further expanding the Sectona Platform’s compatibility with leading ITSM systems.

2. Security and Compliance Advancements

These updates are engineered to provide granular control and meet the rigorous demands of global compliance standards.

ISO/IEC 27001: 2022 Compliance Analytics

A key highlight of this release is the introduction of compliance reporting within the analytics module. The enhancement enables enterprises to support auditors with readily available event log reports in a timely manner; this simplifies security audits and adherence to the ISO/IEC 27001 standard.

Unix Monitoring Agent (UMON) Restrictions

Extending our agent capabilities beyond Windows, the new Unix agent, UMON restricts direct access to Unix servers. This ensures all access is routed through secure channels, generating vital metadata logs for security monitoring.

Session Lockout and MFA Enforcement

To prevent unauthorised access to unattended sessions, we have extended SSHD security with session lockout and multi-factor authentication (MFA). After a period of inactivity, the system will now lock the session and require an MFA OTP to resume activity so that only the authorised device or account owner can maintain access.

3. Reimagining User Experience

Our latest updates refine administrative workflows and daily user interactions to improve operational efficiency.

Unvaulted Accounts

We have introduced ‘Unvaulted Accounts’ to facilitate access that enables manual submission of credentials. This removes the need for dummy accounts and eliminates the false-positive failed login attempts previously seen in logs.

Consolidated Just-In-Time (JIT) Policies

This enhancement allows administrators to define multiple JIT profiles based on user roles, asset types, and account categories. It enables granular, role-based privilege elevation for multiple users concurrently.

Improved User Experience for Launcher-Based Web Sessions

For better productivity during launcher-based web sessions, users can now open duplicate tabs within the embedded browser. This functionality is coupled with the inclusion of file download details in metadata logs for enhanced usability and security monitoring.

Support for SIEM Log Forwarding

Support has been expanded to include multiple log formats compatible with leading SIEM solutions, enabling seamless syslog data forwarding to any SIEM platform. Newly supported formats include Common Event Format (CEF), Log Event Extended Format (LEEF), and JSON, alongside traditional syslog standards such as RFC 3164 and RFC 5424. An option to use Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) for log timestamps has also been added.
