Password Reconciliation

Synchronize Passwords on Vault and Target Assets to ensure uninterrupted access

What is Password Reconciliation?

Password Reconciliation is a process to ensure that passwords stored in the vault and the passwords present on target IT resources are always in synchronization, enabling a seamless process for users to access their entitlements.

What is the Importance of Reconciliation?

Passwords are the most trusted form of authentication to secure and guard resources like accounts, devices, databases, and documents in an organisation. The passwords are stored in an encrypted form in a secure digital location, also known as a vault. The passwords are rotated periodically according to desired rotation policies to ensure they are always protected. This ensures that the hackers do not get hold of credentials by limiting the attack window. These credentials are stored on the local storage of the target asset to ensure that the user has the required access to the resource and performs his activity
The credentials in the vault and the local storage must always be in synchronisation so that whenever the user wants to access resources, access is always available to him. A verification process takes place to identify any mismatches to ensure that the passwords are in synchronisation. If found any, automatic reconciliation takes place with the passwords in the vault, and the local storage reset to a new password, ensuring that they stay in synchronisation after that.
The process of password reconciliation can be scheduled to be run automatically whenever a password mismatch is detected or triggered by the users who possess the necessary access manually.
