Sectona recognized in the 2021 KuppingerCole Leadership Compass
Europe’s leading Analysts, KuppingerCole, in their Leadership Compass report for Privileged Access Management, have acknowledged Sectona as an emerging contender – Challenger.
Offering neutral advice and practical guidance in Information Security, Governance, Risk Management & Compliance (GRC), Identity & Access Management (IAM), as well as areas pertaining to the Digital Transformation, KuppingerCole helps buyers make an informed decision.
The 2021 Leadership Compass report focuses on solutions that help enterprises mitigate the risks associated with privileged access across on-premises and cloud infrastructures.
PAM Market Trends
Analysts and vendors alike are looking at solutions on managing and governing Privileged Access in sprawling cloud infrastructures for the foreseeable future.
The term Zero Trust is gaining traction. The theory is that no entity or user should ever hold standing privileges, and all PAM be based on an ephemeral or Just-in-Time footing.
More common trends include the increased availability of PAM and PAMaaS, designed especially for SMBs and cloud-native deployment. Also, in order to cope with the evolving demands of PAM, Ease of Use is looked at as essential rather than just a “nice to have”.
Sectona – An Emerging Contender in Privileged Access Management
Among the innovators mentioned in Leadership Compass, Sectona has been recognized as a promising challenger. Per the report, Sectona has made tremendous progress in the last 12 months.
From an improved JIT capability with Zero Standing Privilege (ZSP), to Privileged Task Management (PTM) automating SSH and PowerShell commands in order to automate routine tasks, to a Management Console that provides full access to Privileged Account Lifecycle management, the Sectona Security platform has truly “enhanced capabilities.”
Sectona Evaluation in the Leadership Compass
Sectona PAM earned an impressive 5-star rating on the “Security” parameter. The report mentions its following strengths:
- Easy to understand and use dashboard
- Managed services option (MSP) will appeal to third parties
- Access from a wide range of platforms without agents or plug-ins
- Strong support for cloud-based services to onboard assets

Privileged sessions over any HTML5 supported browser can be accessed regardless of the platform, and without the need for agents or plugins to be installed. Moreover, the “risk scoring” for threat analytics has been labelled as a “highlight” of the platform. It gives a quick view of the performance gauged against pre-existing security threats categories.
Moving Forward
The future looks bright for Sectona, according to Leadership Compass. The report states that some of the features like Adaptive Authentication along with Application to Application Password Management (AAPM) by using APIs and SSKs for many platforms, will gain more popularity in the future. Moreover, the platform looks well-positioned to manage DevOps and containerization demands as well. Sectona PAM is built on solid foundations and is expected to have some quality development moving forward.
